Chief Shintah Re-elected Vice-President and Chief Price Elected as Secretary-Treasurer of the UBCIC

November 22, 2007

(Vancouver/Coast Salish Territory) Chief Robert Shintah stated today "I am privileged to serve a third term as Vice-President of the Union of BC Indian Chiefs for the next three years. I will continue to work on behalf of the many members of the Chiefs Council at the First Nations Leadership Council. I pledge to continue to listen to and actively pursue the interests of the grassroots people."

Chief Shintah and his wife Debi have been married for thirty-four years and together they have two daughters. He is also very proud of their five beautiful granddaughters.

"I am truly honoured to be the first woman to be elected to the UBCIC Executive. I believe we need to strategically plan to identify our priorities and to implement the resolutions of the Chiefs Council," said Chief Lynda Price. "We need to hold Minister Strahl to account on his commitments to set up good-faith dialogue on our constitutionally recognized rights outside of the current BC Treaty Process. I look forward to working with Premier Campbell and Minister De Jong on the implementation of the recognition legislation of our Aboriginal Title and Rights."

Chief Lynda Price is a proud mother of two children, Carey and Kayla. Chief Price was elected to a second term as Chief of the Ulkatcho Indian Band and is a member of the First Nations Leadership Council.
